Mystery Carving




This sculpture came to me without any context - I don't know where it's from, who might have carved it, what culture, or even why. That sort of forces you to consider something as exactly what it is, and only that.

  1. God, that is so wonderfully ambiguous! Have no idea whether it is American, American Indian, Eskimo, etc...The paint is pretty great.

  4. It's a bird, it's a plane... perhaps it's a dragon boat, wasn't it Vikings who used them?
