The Water Recedes
But these two were ready, come what may.
I saw a crew hoisting five giant steel rail cars that had been washed off the railroad tracks beside the river.
Among the businesses damaged were two restaurants, Canoe and The Floataway Cafe. You can't make this stuff up.
And I have to share an ad found on Craigslist today, listed under Free Stuff:
I have a nice hornet's nest on my property if anyone is interested in taking it down. It does have hornets in it...If interested call me at 4xx-5xx-1xxx....

Glad to know you and your scanner have stayed afloat!
ReplyDeleteAs to the person offering the hive...ummmm...why? What on earth would be the advantage to a hornet's nest. Weird. I once had a beekeeper come to take out bees from a wall that had swarmed, but they're useful. Hornets? Not so much. Perhaps you should call them and ask if they know something we all don't about the usefulness of hornets. Just something to do while you watch the waters recede.
Thanks! We were more fortunate than many.
ReplyDeleteI think there might be a little of Tom Sawyer's "Does a boy get to whitewash a fence every day?" strategy to get rid of the hornet's nest. I have seen those nests used as decor in rustic interiors, but even an empty one makes me nervous.
