The marbles start in the hopper and upper left, roll down to be transferred on the lever arm attached to the figure 8, then roll and smack and clack and spin the wheels till they end up in a line on the bottom. It's kind of noisy and very kinetic.
Here's one that I've seen in person that has ping pong balls going through it. I can't even begin to tell you how amazing this things is. It's huge and beautiful and I keep wondering how it's made it through earthquakes.
