I was one of those people sitting tight in front of the tv with a camera in hand when they did the first walk. I still have the photos in an old album. Have no idea what I ever did with the negs. It was just so exciting.
My dad was in the Ordinance Corps of the US Army which worked with NASA on some of their projects so we followed these events carefully. I also remember standing in the yard at night with a telescope trying to see Sputnik convinced the Russians were coming.
Okay, I actually believe some numbskull actually did this. Probably Rosemary Woods.
I remember seeing Sputnik go over. I still go out some nights to watch for satellites. Saw the Space Shuttle with I guess it was the Russian ship go over years and years ago. That was pretty interesting.

ReplyDeleteYou're not alone misplacing your negatives. NASA lost the original videotapes of the moon landing. That's right; LOST them.
