ReplyDeletebtw Robert -- i wanted to tell you that i hail from Westport, CT which was Robert Lawson's last home...he lived and died in a house he called Rabbit Hill after his wonderful book...the town still holds a literary event named for him every year...this is the website for it:

ReplyDeleteWolfy, one of my prized possessions is a copy of Ben and Me autographed by Robert Lawson. How important is he to the experience of the story of Ferdinand? The spine of my Viking copy reads "Leaf and Lawson." Whenever you're home in Westport, leave a note of appreciation of his grave for me.
